Richard Sherman recently appeared on the St. Brown Podcast to discuss football with the college and NFL seasons fully underway. Travis Hunter became a topic of conversation at one point in Sherman’s discussion.

The former pro defensive back was asked about Hunter’s NFL future. More specifically, he spoke on his ability to play both sides of the ball at the next level.

Sherman doesn’t see it happening!

“We’re not playing 50 snaps on offense and 55 snaps on defense [in the NFL],” he said. “These QBs are going to say, ‘Hey, let’s see how in shape you are by the end of the fourth quarter. We just saw you run three go routes, I’m about to bring our third receiver in to run you on three more go routes.'”

Sherman doesn’t believe Hunter, or most anyone for that matter, has the stamina to play both sides of the ball as a pro. The task is too daunting!

Travis Hunter’s shown he can do it at the college level. In his debut with Colorado last year, he logged 151 snaps while tallying 119 yards on offense and nabbing an interception.

We’ve seen more of the same in Year 2.

Hunter currently leads the Buffs in receiving and touchdown catches. He’s also secured a pick and had a game-saving forced fumble against Baylor.

The talented dual-threat athlete insists that he can do it as a pro, too.

“I mean, there’s a lot of people that have been telling me that [I can’t play both corner and receiver],” he recently stated. “I’m going to continue to prove them wrong.”

He’s fed up with the doubters, Richard Sherman included.

After hearing the most recent take, Hunter responded with a post on his Instagram story.

“Stop speaking on me and let me play football,” he said.

Richard Sherman isn’t impressed with Travis Hunter’s wide receiver skills.

He called the pass catcher’s route running “bland” while believing his size better suits him for a spot on defense.

“I think he goes as a corner just because of his size… He’s not a special size, super dynamic route runner. He’s a great athlete and he’s so smooth… I’m sure if he focused on receiver, he could be elite, but as a corner, he just looks more natural.”

Sherman believes it’s time for Travis Hunter to pick a position.

The Colorado star doesn’t seem ready to give up his two-way duties just yet.
