Tragedy struck what should have been a joyful occasion for all of Kansas City on Wednesday. A shooting at the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl LVIII victory marred a parade that should’ve been about the coronation of a dynasty.

Police are reporting 22 people shot, with at least one dead.

The shooting took place right at the end of the parade route at Union Station in downtown Kansas City. It took place around 2PM local time in Kansas City.

Now, Kansas City Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce has released a statement on the shooting.

Parade goers heroically tackled at least one of the shooters soon after the incident.

Nearly a dozen children are being treated for injuries in one of the darkest days of Kansas City’s recent history.

Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce’s girlfriend, was not at the parade today. The pop megastar will play three shows in Melbourne, Australia, this weekend.
