Tragedy struck what should have been a joyful occasion for all of Kansas City on Wednesday. A shooting at the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl LVIII victory marred a parade that should’ve been about the coronation of a dynasty.
Police are reporting 22 people shot, with at least one dead.
The shooting took place right at the end of the parade route at Union Station in downtown Kansas City. It took place around 2PM local time in Kansas City.
Now, Kansas City Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce has released a statement on the shooting.

Nearly a dozen children are being treated for injuries in one of the darkest days of Kansas City’s recent history.
Children’s Mercy is treating 12 patients from the rally. 11 are children. 9 have gunshot wounds, per Lisa Augustine, Senior Manager, Media Relations Children’s Mercy Kansas City.
