Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift are definitely the celebrity couple of our time. The superstar Kansas City Chiefs tight end and the world’s biggest music star are constantly making headlines.
Just this past weekend, they made a big splash when Kelce joined Taylor Swift on stage to help her perform, sending the internet into a frenzy.
It seems like this couple has been in our zeitgeist for much longer than the nine months it has been since Taylor Swift strolled into a suite at Soldier Field last September to watch Kelce and the Chiefs take on the Chicago Bears, thus announcing their relationship to the world. But, it truly only has been nine months, and we don’t have that many details about the relationship.
That is, until now. Travis Kelce spoke at length, really for one of the first times, about his relationship with Taylor Swift on Barstool Sports’ “Bussin with the Boys” podcast featuring former NFL players Taylor Lewan and Will Compton.
Kelce shared why he fell in love with Taylor Swift. Take a listen.
Will Compton: “You had the argument of the Swifties watching the NFL now do I think it’s been so it’s been such a positive thing for the NFL? Yes. Because she has the most she’s like the biggest audience in the world. Yeah. And, she seems like such like a down to earth (girl). But like, the way it seems like you guys support each other, and her going to games and when you win the Super Bowl, and she’s down off to the side knowing like, it’s your moment. I don’t know, it’s like small things that happen to where you’re sitting watching it unfolding. Like, Yo, she does seem like a real one.”
Travis Kelce: “She’s very self aware. She understands situations like that. And I think that’s that’s why I really started to like, really fall for her was how genuine she is around just like, friends, family. It can get it can get crazy for somebody with that much, like, attention, right? And she just keeps it so chill and so cool.
Kelce continued on.
“First game she came to against the Bears, I was like, hey, yeah, so you come in, Okay, so I could probably set you up with everything. And she just walked right through the front door. There’s no like, , talking about security, making sure that she gets to us. She just (said) ‘I just want to be around the family and friends and like experience this with everybody.’ I was just like, ‘she got buku points for that’. I was like, ‘Damn, she’s just (expletive) she’s in the madness, man.’ She wants to be a part of it. She wants to support me and do things like that. I was like, ‘Man, she she really won me over with that.'”
It sounds like Travis Kelce loves the fact that, despite all the fame, Taylor Swift is not just about herself and is as much like a regular person as one can be.
Swift is getting closer and closer to wrapping up her European Leg of her record-setting tour, and her schedule should allow her to attend most of Travis Kelce’s games again this fall as Kansas City goes for an unprecedented three-peat.
