UAB safety Sirad Bryant should’ve been ejected from Saturday’s college football game against Tennessee. His unsportsmanlike behavior reflects poorly on Trent Dilfer.

However, the nearby official chose not to throw a flag so he got away with his actions.

That puts the pressure right back on his college football coach to punish him accordingly. The only question is whether Dilfer will be around long enough to issue an internal suspension.

Sirad Bryant must reap what he sows.

This unfortunate incident took place during the first half. Tennessee kicker Max Gilbert had just made an extra point to put the Vols ahead by 21. He and his teammates were heading back to the sideline.

Enter Bryant.

The 6-foot-2, 210-pound fifth-year senior got in the face of Tennessee’s holder as he passed by. It was a brief exchange that obviously ruffled some feathers.

Bryant skirted past the holder to stomp directly on Gilbert’s foot.

It was a dirty move and Sirad Bryant absolutely should’ve been ejected. The center judge was standing right there and he saw the whole thing go down but he still chose to keep his flag in his pocket.

Unfortunately, Bryant has a history of this kind of thing. He was ejected from a rivalry game while at Georgia Tech in 2022 for mauling an opponent.

His poor behavior on Saturday was not his first offense. He just so happened to get away with it.

What is Trent Dilfer going to do?

I would say this is going to be Trent Dilfer’s final game as the head football coach at UAB but he somehow managed to survive after last season so who knows. His ouster should be imminent after he was caught taking photos on the sideline at Neyland Stadium just moments before kickoff.

If Dilfer does make it another week without getting fired, he must address the dirty foot stomp by Bryant.

I am a firm believer that everybody deserves a second chance. People make mistakes. The only problem is that this was Sirad Bryant’s second chance.

It would be a strong statement from Dilfer to remove him from the team. That kind of behavior will not fly at UAB as long as he is the head coach. Will he do it?
