LSU dual sport athlete Trey’Dez Green made his debut on the basketball court this weekend against SEC rival Alabama. That first game came less than a month after he suited up for the Tigers on the gridiron in the Texas Bowl.
As a tight end, he hauled in six catches for 53 yards and a pair of touchdowns in a win over Baylor. Each represented a career high.
That production was no surprise to those familiar with the 250-pound pass catcher. Green was considered the top player at his position in the 2024 football recruiting rankings. He flashed his incredible talents almost immediately, totaling 13 receptions and four scores as a freshman.
He was a talented basketball prospect, too, though. He actually held hoops offers from LSU and Texas A&M before heading to Baton Rouge. He’s opted to play both sports at the college level. He announced his introduction loudly this weekend.
Given the overlap of the football and basketball seasons, Green missed the Tigers‘ non-conference portion of the slate. He joined the basketball team in January after wrapping up a nine-win year.
His debut came against a high-powered Alabama squad on Saturday. Trey’Dez Green showed off his athleticism soon after getting on the court.
The forward turned defense into offense after a monster rejection of a Crimson Tide player’s shot. After securing the loose ball, he put his opponent on a poster. It was Green’s only bucket of the game, but it was a big one!

Green averaged 27 points and 11 boards in his high school junior year. He’s been called a “generational talent” by those that saw him star in both sports.
College football and basketball viewers are now getting introduced to the freshman phenom. Green scored two points and brought down three rebounds to go along with his block. Unfortunately, the Tigers lost, 80-73.
