Gunner Stockton is a BAMF. Ole Miss quarterbacks Trinidad Chambliss and Austin Simmons made sure to show their respect for his gritty performance at the Sugar Bowl with a classy gesture just moments before they joined their teammates to celebrate the win.
They made sure to give him his well-deserved flowers.
Stockton took one of the biggest college football hits I have ever seen, got right back to his feet, ran to the line of scrimmage and scored a touchdown on the very next play. He is the definition of a gamer!
Gunner Stockton got absolutely crushed.
Georgia trailed Ole Miss by five with just under five minutes left in the second quarter. Stockton escaped the pocket to avoid a sack on 3rd-and-12, rolled out to his left and delivered a strike to Cash Jones in the flat. Jones ran for a crucial first down. The Bulldogs’ running back came one yard short of the end zone.
Meanwhile, Stockton got annihilated. Rebels linebacker Tahj Chambers laid the lumber.
The entire Superdome audibly gasped as he got leveled.
Stockton at no point asked for a roughing flag. At no point did he complain. At no point did he show signs of discomfort. The redshirt junior quarterback got right back to his feet and ran to the line of scrimmage.
Stockton scored a touchdown on the very next play.
This is one of the hardest hits I’ve ever seen a QB take. Got up and immediately ran to the line for the next play

It was a remarkable sequence of events. I fully expected Stockton to stay down on the ground for at least a few seconds or need help up from his teammates. Nope! He’s a dog.
Trinidad Chambliss and Austin Simmons showed their respect.
Ole Miss ultimately won the Sugar Bowl to advance to the College Football Playoff semifinal and players immediately poured onto the field to celebrate as soon as the clock hit zero (for the third time). Georgia walked back up the tunnel to the locker room.
Rebels quarterbacks Trinidad Chambliss and Austin Simmons zigged while the rest of their team zagged.
They did not join in on the initial celebration. They ran right over to Gunner Stockton. Simmons got there first. Chambliss was not far behind.

Respect. @wsbtv pic.twitter.com/ljfuDTPWxX
Stockton played his guts out. Simmons and Chambliss came out on top. It was an admirable moment of profound respect between three gladiators.
Elsewhere on the field, Georgia athletic director Josh Brooks was the first person to congratulate Ole Miss athletic director Keith Carter. He also offered him some kind words of advice.
The respect between these two teams run deep. The better team won on Thursday. On to Phoenix.
