Most NFL players are completely locked in on what’s happening on the field as the season heads into the stretch run. But, a string of break-in’s targeting athletes has the league’s players worried.
On Wednesday, Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was asked about any security measures he’s taking in reaction to a slew of burglaries targeting the homes of athletes while they play. Tagovailoa shared what he does to keep his family and property safe.
Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow saw his home broken into this past weekend, with SI Swimsuit model Olivia Ponton discovering the scene while Burrow was playing on the road against the Dallas Cowboys. Other athletes have seen their homes broken into recently. Kansas City Chiefs stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce have had their homes broken into this Fall. NBA players Mike Conley and Bobby Portis have suffered a similar fate.
On Wednesday, Tagovailoa noted that his car has been broken into in the past, and that he has armed security at his house to deter any would-be thieves.
Tua Tagovailoa speaks out about the recent security concerns around NFL players’ homes. He’s even hired his own personal security.

This is likely to become a trend, especially if burglaries targeting athletes continue. It’s obvious why people would target athletes. Not only are they likely to have valuable possession, but they have a set schedule of times they definitely won’t be home. That makes them an easy target.
Hopefully, those responsible for these break-ins can be brought to justice.
