Tua Tagovailoa is looking for an extension in Miami, currently in talks with the Dolphins as he approaches his fifth NFL season. The two sides have yet to come to an agreement, but negotiations are reportedly moving in a positive direction.

That said, nothing is set in stone making the quarterback’s long-term future in South Beach uncertain. Tagovailoa’s mom posted a cryptic message on X Monday, only adding fuel to the fire!

The passer was one of the NFL’s best last year, throwing for a league-leading 4,624 yards. He set a number of career-highs in 2023, a season after pacing the league in QB rating in ’22.

Now, he’s looking to cash in.

Miami was hesitant to pony up, initially presenting a perceived low-ball offer to Tagovailoa early in negotiations. Things have reportedly gotten closer, according to ESPN’s Jeff Darlington.

“Going back about a month ago, the negotiations really hadn’t gotten to a point where it was even close,” Darlington said on the Pat McAfee Show. “Tua didn’t perceive the options on the table to be market value… Since then, I’ve been told things are amicable. They have been inching closer.

“That being said, he’s reported [to camp]… but I could see him playing this thing out.”

Darlington suggests that Tagovailoa won’t settle for a lesser offer, while also saying that Miami isn’t interested in overpaying. He also doesn’t see another team opening the checkbook next offseason should Tua ball out in 2024.

While things are amicable, this is far from a done deal based on Darlington’s update.

She posted a cryptic message online amid the uncertainty.

That Samoan message translates to “Everyone is important. No one is political. But having a relationship with people and loving your neighbor is the best thing. It’s still going to be!”

It’s done little to provide clarity on the situation.

Tua Tagovailoa believes he’s one of the top passers in the NFL. The Dolphins are hesitant to give him the bag.

The quarterback’s future is still unclear!
