The Los Angeles Angels selected Tyler Bremner with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 MLB Draft. It was a shocking pick that can only be explained by the existence of a higher power.

A mother was looking down on her son!

Bremner was expected to be drafted into Major League Baseball during the first round of the MLB Draft. However, the 21-year-old was projected as a mid- or late-round pick. Most mock drafts had him going somewhere between picks 11 and 22 to the Athletics, Rays, Red Sox, Twins, Cubs or Braves. Some analysts thought he could maybe be a surprise pick to the Mariners at No. 3 but it was unlikely.

None of those predicted scenarios came true.

Tyler Bremner went second overall to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. He, his family and his friends were shocked. Their reaction was priceless.

Not only was it a moment of pure joy, it was divine. Bremner’s mother Jennifer passed away on June 11 after a five-year battle with breast cancer. He was drafted by a team with the most fitting name.

I know she’s watching over me and she’s so proud of me. In a weird way, I went to the Angels. It’s weird how life works. It’s a special moment.

— Tyler Bremner

Special indeed. Regardless of your own personal beliefs, there is no doubt in my mind that the newest member of the Los Angeles Angels was touched by an angel. A higher power watched over him.

In terms of baseball, Tyler Bremner has stud potential. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound right-handed pitcher finished with a 3.49 ERA and 111 strikeouts over 77.1 innings pitched as a junior at U.C. Santa Barbara. He left the Gauchos program with a 21-9 record and an average of 1.3 strikeouts per inning over 221.1 innings in three years. His fastball touches 98 miles per hour with a changeup and a slider.

Bremner could use some work on his third pitch. He occasionally struggles to make it deep into his starts. However, there is a lot on which to build. The Angels obviously made the trip up to Santa Barbara and loved what they saw. Their evaluation led to the best moment of the MLB Draft.
