The life of a professional athlete is not like that of a normal person. Case in point: Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Tyler Glasnow just got married to a woman he saw in the stands during a game.
That’s right. The 32-year-old pitcher just got married to Meghan Murphy, a fan he met after tossing a ball to her with his phone number written on it in 2021 while he was on the Tampa Bay Rays.
“I saw a girl who was kind of cute, so I had our team photographer zoom in on her — this just sounds very weird — but she was wholesome, with a girl-next-door look,” Tyler Glasnow told the Los Angeles Times back in March.
“So, I wrote my phone number on a ball, threw it to her, and told her to text me. She came to the next game, threw me a ball with her number, and told me to text her.
“I didn’t think anything would come of it, but then I met her, and she was awesome. She has a really good personality, loves to travel, and is really fun, so it’s super easy. That was the first time I’ve ever thrown a ball to someone [with my phone number on it], too. And I still don’t think she believes me.”
Tyler Glasnow admitted that the story is “a little creepy,” but it obviously worked out. A few days ago, he shared some photos on Instagram from his and Meghan’s wedding.
Tyler Glasnow has had an injury-riddled career
Tyler Glasnow, who went 4-3 in 2025 in just 90.1 innings for the Dodgers, hasn’t pitched in more than 22 games in a season since he was with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2018. Over his 10-year career with Pittsburgh, Tampa Bay, and Los Angeles, Glasnow has made just 128 starts with a record of 43-36 and a 3.74 ERA. He has won 10 games in a season just once in his career, in 2023 with the Rays. He is currently signed to a five-year deal with the Dodgers worth $136.56 million.
