Tyler O’Neill started his tenure with the Baltimore Orioles off in style with an Opening Day home run in his second at-bat. The dinger continued a record-setting trend that’s extended three MLB organizations.

O’Neill has now homered in six straight season openers. The latest long ball cashed in big for baseball bettors.

O’Neill’s only been a big leaguer for six years. He started his seventh campaign on Thursday. The Burnaby, Cananda native was drafted in the third round of the 2013 draft by the Mariners. He broke through to the MLB level with the Cardinals in 2018.

The outfielder’s home run streak began in St. Louis in his third professional campaign. He would go 4-for-4 between 2020 and 2023 before moving onto the Boston Red Sox.

In his lone season in Beantown, he set an MLB record with five straight Opening Day dingers, ironically against the team that drafted him a decade prior.

Tyler O’Neill extended his streak with the Orioles.

This past offseason, he signed with division rival Baltimore. He did so, in part, because of stadium renovations that helped boost his home run odds.

“To be honest, I don’t know if I would consider signing in Baltimore with that left field, how it was a couple of years, just for my player profile and how I hit the ball. It swallowed me up.”

The Orioles moved the outfield wall in significantly this season. That should only help the right-hander in the power department.

Baltimore began its 2025 season on the road, however. That didn’t matter to Tyler O’Neill. He left the yard once again, this time going to the opposite field for a 376-foot bomb that left the bat at 106 MPH.

MLB bettors hoping to cash in on the trend laid down their hard-earned money on Tyler O’Neill prop wagers. He was the most-bet player to hit a HR this Opening Day at 4/1 odds. He cashed in in a major way.

His home run gave the Orioles a 5-0 lead. They’ll look to close out the day with a win to improve to 1-0.
