Not only was Tyrique Stevenson embarrassingly caught trash-talking fans seconds prior to the Washington Commanders connected on a game-winning Hail Mary touchdown, but the Chicago Bears cornerback was also the player that was meant to be covering Noah Brown, who caught the TD.

Using ESPN’s Next Gen Stats system, analyst Benjamin Solak shared a play chart that shows Stevenson was meant to be tracking Noah Brown on the play that wound up being a game-winning touchdown for the Commanders. Making matters even worse for Stevenson is that he was also the player who tipped the ball up and backward toward Brown, allowing for perhaps the easiest Hail Mary reception you’ll ever see.

As a result of the Commanders’ last-second TD from rookie sensation Jayden Daniels to Brown, the Bears ultimately lost the game by a score of 18-15.

“To Chicago and teammates, my apologies for lack of awareness and focus,” Stevenson shared on social media after the loss. “The game ain’t over until zeros hit the clock. Can’t take anything for granted. Notes taken, improvement will happen. #Beardown.”

With the last-second loss to the Washington Commanders, the Bears now sit at 4-3. Caleb Williams and the Bears will travel to Arizona to take on the Cardinals in Week 9. As for the Commanders, they improved to 6-2 and sit atop the NFC East with a game against the New York Giants coming up on Sunday.
