UCF stormed the court after its college basketball upset victory over Texas Tech. Twice!
It is the single most embarrassing way to lose.
Although it is not that uncommon for the students to rush onto the playing surface before the clock hits zero in college football or college basketball, that does not make it any less awkward for everybody involved. That is especially the players who must wait for the students to clear to finish out a loss.
UCF upset Texas Tech at home.
11th-ranked Texas Tech traveled to Orlando on Saturday to play UCF. The Knights are currently unranked because of their early-season strength of schedule but both teams actually had the same record at 16-4.
Not anymore!
The Red Raiders lost both halves by an identical score of 44-40 to lose the game 88-80. JT Toppin and Christian Anderson combined for 44 points in 77 minutes. UCF had four different players in double digits. Themus Fulks finished as the team’s leading scorer with 21.
This is a statement win for UCF. Don’t sleep on the Citronauts!
It also happened to be the Space Game. The annual tradition celebrates the university’s connection to space exploration and features special uniforms and themed promotions. It just means a little bit more.
Students showed out in support of a team that is not getting as much respect as it deserves.
I legitimately cannot remember a time where UCF had a larger student section.
Addition Financial Arena was rocking from the opening tip to the final buzzer. Especially when the clock finally hit zero for the second time.
Not one, but TWO court storms!
Texas Tech, trailing by nine points, could not get a shot off on its final possession of the game. It appeared as though the Red Raiders were stuffed at the rim. Game over. UCF students immediately poured onto the court to celebrate the upset win.
However, there was a foul!
Officials put 0.2 seconds back on the clock. The game was not over even though the student section had already stormed the court.

Officials had to get the situation back under control and usher the students off of the court back into the crowd. The delay took more than a few minutes.
The rare reverse court storm😂

There was a whistle at the end of the #UCF game against (11) Texas Tech
Students stormed the court prematurely and now have to go back to the stands

Play was allowed to continue once the court had been cleared. Texas Tech lost. UCF stormed, again!

It's the Knights second top 25 win of the season 👏 pic.twitter.com/Dgex9CcRoq
There is no more embarrassing way to lose. The Red Raiders were not able to go back to the locker room after the initial court storm. They had to taste defeat and watch the court get stormed only to taste defeat and watch the court get stormed again. Salt in the wound.
