We’re beginning to learn more about the upcoming UFC White House card. Back in July, President Trump announced that he was teaming up with Dana White to host a UFC fight card on the White House lawn next year.

“We’re gonna have a UFC fight on the grounds of the White House. We have a lot of land there, we’re gonna build…Dana’s gonnna do it, he’s great, one of a kind…”

“It will be a UFC fight, a championship fight, full fight like 20-25,000 people, and we’re gonna do that as part of 250 also.”

Last week, White said he had travelled to the White House to get official approval from the President.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the UFC is still figuring out the details but have several interesting ideas for the White House card.

Fighter weigh-ins and a press conference are planned to be held on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, said the people familiar with discussions, emphasizing that plans are still in early stages and could change in the coming months.

Fighters might warm up in the White House. One early idea was to have them emerge from the Oval Office and walk through a colonnade and into a cage set up in the Rose Garden. But Trump and others want a bigger show with more spectators, so the event has been moved to the South Lawn. A UFC team has already surveyed the grounds.

“This will be one of the greatest and most historic sports events in history, and President Trump hosting it at the White House is a testament to his vision to celebrate America’s monumental 250th anniversary,” Trump spokesman Steven Cheung said.

White has also assured fans that he plans to put on “one of the best card we’ve ever done.”
