A lot has changed with WWE over the past year. Vince McMahon is gone. Monday Night Raw announced it is moving to Netflix, beginning in January. And now A&E has revealed a new competition series called WWE LFG (Legends & Future Greats) will premiere in early 2025.
From the sounds of it, WWE LFG is sure to pique the interest of longtime wrestling fans who enjoyed the groundbreaking reality show WWE Tough Enough.
On Tough Enough, competitors underwent professional wrestling training with a chance to earn a contract with WWE. On WWE LFG, former superstars like Triple H, The Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, Booker T, Mickie James and Bubba Ray Dudley take their shots at mentoring a new generation of aspiring wrestlers.
On WWE LFG, those legends will be shown working with young wrestlers through their training process as they prepare for weekly matches in their quest to earn a WWE contract.
“Literally filled with blood, sweat, and tears, there’s never been a series that combines in-ring action, behind-the-scenes reality, high-stakes drama, and some of WWE’s greatest icons all in one package. From total unknowns to legends, ‘LFG’ will give viewers a raw, ground-up, 360-degree view of what it truly takes to make it in the WWE,” said Rob Sharenow, President of Programming, A&E Television Networks.
WWE and A&E also announced the launch of another new series, WWE’s Greatest Moments, which will relive the iconic events that have shaped WWE history. Michael Cole will host the show with special guests “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, Hulk Hogan and Kevin Owens also making appearances.
Also announced on Friday, former wrestler and legendary commentator Jesse “The Body” Ventura is making his return to WWE. Ventura has been confirmed to appear on the fourth iteration of Saturday Night’s Main Event. This will be third time that NBC has hosted the Saturday night WWE show since it debuted on May 11, 1985. (Fox aired SNME from February 8 to November 14, 1992.)
