We have an interesting twist in the case of UnitedHealth CEO Brian Thompson. On Monday morning, shooting suspect Luigi Mangione was detained in Altoona, Pennsylvania at a McDonald’s after a patron identified him and called the police.
According to initial reports, Mangione had a 3D-printed pistol, silencer, cash, and a backpack.

A search of his backpack uncovered a 3D-printed pistol, a 3D-printed silencer and a loaded magazine with six rounds of 9mm ammunition.
Prosecutors said he was also carrying a US passport and $10,000 cash, $2,000 of it in foreign currency, though Mr Mangione disputed the amount in court.
At his arraignment, Mangione argued that the money they found him with wasn’t his and may have been planted.
Via CNN.
“One of the most interesting parts of that particular hearing was actually his statements after the conversation about bail,” CNN reported.
“Prosecutors noted that they found him with $8,000 in US cash, $2,000 in foreign currency, his passport, and also a Faraday bag, which is basically a bag designed to stop transmission of cell service or other sort of things like that.”
“At the end of the prosecutor’s speech, Luigi Mangione said, ‘I actually want to address two of the things that you said. I don’t know where that money came from. I’m not sure if it was planted.'”
