Unjustly Fired Kennesaw State Coach Brian Bohannon Returns To Fire Up Team Before Game

Brian Bohannon is no longer the head coach of the Kennesaw State Owls. Kennesaw State surprisingly fired Bohannon last week after a 1-8 start to the team’s first season at the FBS level. Despite wording from the University that suggested that Bohannon resigned, that was not the case.

But the weird situation didn’t stop Bohannon from showing up to support his team before its Conference USA game against Sam Houston State on Saturday.

A video from a Kennesaw State fan on social media showed Bohannon waiting for his players as they walked into the stadium and embracing each one as they walked by. It’s not only a remarkable gesture, but it shows how much he genuinely cares for his former players.

Ex-Kennesaw State Coach Brian Bohannon Is A Proven Winner

Bohannon was the first-ever coach in Kennesaw State history when the program began in 2015. He had just one losing season at the FCS level and reached the FCS playoff quarterfinals in just the third and fourth seasons in program history.

Not only that, but Bohannon very clearly had a plan for Kennesaw’s move to the FBS level. The Owls have one of the youngest rosters in the country and seemed well prepared for a multi-year process. Despite all of this, Kennesaw State decided to cut ties with him.

“This morning I was informed directly from AD Overton that he was making a change in leadership,” Bohannon said of the move. “Contrary to what’s been reported, I want to be clear that I did not step down from my position as head football coach at Kennesaw State University.

“Since we started the football program, I have had the pleasure of coaching and working alongside so many great people. I appreciate your hard work and dedication to this program.”

Everything Bohannon has said and done shows that he’s exactly the type of person you’d want leading your program. For some reason, KSU seemed to disagree. How that works out for them remains to be seen.
