Ohio defeated UNLV to win the Frisco Bowl but Anthony Colandrea feels more like the Rebels defeated themselves. The Bobcats were quick to jump all over his postgame comments.
They would not let his disrespect stand.
The college football players who did not get credit from the quarterback they just beat were quick to remind him of how things went down on the field. Straps.
Ohio won the Frisco Bowl.
UNLV closed as 6.5-point favorites against Ohio in the Frisco Bowl on Tuesday night. They lost by seven.
The Bobcats won their seventh-straight bowl game by a final score of 17-10.
All things considered, the numbers were more or less the same. It was pretty even across the board.
- TOTAL PLAYS
- UNLV — 59
- Ohio — 58
- TOTAL YARDS
- UNLV — 281
- Ohio — 350
- FIRST DOWNS
- UNLV — 18
- Ohio — 19
- THIRD DOWN EFFICIENCY
- UNLV — 4/11
- Ohio — 4/11
- PENALTIES
- UNLV — 5 (40)
- Ohio — 5 (50)
- TURNOVERS
- UNLV — 3
- Ohio — 2
The game ultimately came down to the defense. The Rebels had four drives of eight plays or more that ended with a fumble, punt, turnover on downs and an interception. It was a completely different game if one of those drives ended in points. The Bobcats didn’t let them score.
Anthony Colandrea blames UNLV.
UNLV quarterback Anthony Colandrea, the whoopsie daisy king, refused to give any credit to Ohio’s defense after the game. He blamed himself and his teammates for the loss.
It was the Rebels who lost, not the Bobcats who won.
UNLV did run into itself on 3rd-and-goal, which was super embarrassing.

But the offense got into the end zone on 4th down so it’s not like that play proved to be the difference. It was just humiliating. Colandrea’s comments were disrespectful to his opponent.
And as you could imagine, they did not go over well with the victors.
Ohio defensive back Jalen Thomeson responded to Colandrea with just one word: “Straps.” Safety DJ Walked used just one emoji: “😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂”
Colandrea threw for only 184 yards on a 63% completion percentage with an interception. Need more be said?
