Vanderbilt offensive lineman Isaia Glass wore a Chrome Hearts undershirt on Saturday. His wardrobe is the perfect representation of the NIL era of college football.

He makes a lot of money!

It was not too long ago that college football players were getting paid cash under the table to avoid NCAA violations. Now they can afford to wear luxury clothing brands under their uniforms.

Who is Isaia Glass?

At 6-foot-4, 311 pounds, Glass currently serves as a starting offensive tackle for the Commodores. This is his fifth year.

The former three-star prospect committed to Arizona State out of high school. He spent two years with the Sun Devils before he entered the transfer portal for the first time, which led him to Stillwater.

Glass played in all 12 games at Oklahoma State in 2024 with eight starts. 347 snaps at left tackle. 309 snaps at right tackle.

And then it was back to the portal.

Vanderbilt brought him in as part of a larger overhaul to its offensive line during the offseason. The Dores flip their guards and tackles based on the tight end’s alignment so Glass plays on the quick side.

They must’ve paid him a good chunk of money to play his fifth season in Nashville because the going rate for an offensive lineman with experience as a starter hovers between $200-700k. At least.

Chrome Hearts is expensive!

Vanderbilt beat LSU on Saturday to move into the top 10 at 6-1. Glass helped to pave the way for more than 230 yards rushing with only one sack allowed.

Believe it or not, that shirt costs no less than $600 on the resale market.

Chrome Hearts is a luxury clothing brand founded in 1988. It is best known for its gothic, rock n’ roll aesthetic that often features motifs like crosses, daggers, and the fleur-de-lis.

The brand first became popular through its association with musicians and celebrities who embraced the rebellious style and its exclusivity. Athletes like Caleb Williams have since brought it to sports.

There is a mystique created by its lack of marketing and limited availability. That also creates a high price point.

Glass’ shirt is currently listed for sale on StockX at ~$550. Justin Reed has it priced at a flat $700. Grailed has only one men’s large for $780.

Most people cannot afford to purchase this shirt in the first place. Not only can Isaia Glass afford the shirt, he wore it under his sweaty shoulder pads in a highly-physical college football game.

The Name, Image and Likeness era of collegiate athletics is just different.
