Victor Wembanyama is one of the tallest players in NBA history, and he tends to stick out on the court even when he’s surrounded by other vertically gifted guys. However, it can be hard to appreciate just how much of a giant he is until you see him next to some more diminutive members of the population—including the group of kids who recently got to play soccer with him in Costa Rica.

There was an insane amount of hype surrounding Victor Wembanyama when he declared for the NBA Draft after making a name for himself in his native France, and the man who is officially listed as 7’3″ has more than lived up to it since the Spurs selected him with the top overall pick in the NBA Draft in 2023.

All signs point to Wemby becoming the face of the NBA in the very near future based on how he’s fared since entering the league, although he suffered a setback that brought his sophomore campaign to a premature end after being diagnosed with the blood clot that sidelined him for the remainder of the season in February.

Wembamyama underwent surgery to address the deep vein thrombosis in his shoulder in March, and all signs point to him being ready to go by the time the next NBA season gets underway (he’s said he’s hoping to get back on the court in time to compete for France in the EuroBasket tournament that will kick off in August).

It appears the Spurs star is well on his way to making a full recovery when you consider he was not only cleared to take a flight down to Costa Rica for vacation but seemingly had the green light to take part in some physical activity while he was down there when you consider he was filmed playing soccer at the Los Angeles de La Fortuna Sports Center in San Carlos with some kids he towered over to a laughable degree.

Wembanyama played soccer when he was growing up in France (you probably won’t be shocked to learn he was primarily a goalkeeper) before turning his focus to basketball, and based on how things have panned out for him, that was probably a pretty good call.
