They say that, when in a romantic relationship, indifference is actually more poisonousness than hate. And if you’ve ever played a competitive sport, you know a similar phenomenon is true, as being pitied is far worse than being reviled.

New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones certainly learned that lesson, as Minnesota Vikings linebacker Jonathan Greenard paid the QB the ultimate form of disrespect by revealing the Vikings’ defense “felt bad” for DJ.

“We kind of started to feel a little bit bad for him as we’re still just completely taking away everything he wants to do,” Greenard said during an interview with the Power Trip Morning Show. “Hey, it’s good to be on the other side of it, and it’s our job to not be on that side.”

In the 28-6 home loss to the Minnesota Vikings, Jones — who is in the midst of a four-year, $160 million contract — completed 22 of 42 passes for 186 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions.

While Giants head coach Brian Daboll didn’t draft Jones — who was selected with the 6th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft — his fate is likely tied to the former Duke University QB all the same, meaning both will likely be out of town next year should this season continue the way it started.

Jones has been the Giants starting signal-caller since 2019 and has compiled a record of 22-37-1, leading the Giants to a singular winning season in 2022.

The Giants will look to get their first win and their season on track on Sunday, September 15 with a 1 p.m. EST matchup on the road against the Washington Commanders.
