A high school football coach in the state of Washington has been reinstated following a brief suspension. Peyton Pelluer will be back on the sidelines for the Skyline Spartans very soon.
The news comes after a handful of angry parents sparked a midseason roster controversy. The school defied their demands while siding with the football coach.
Skyline is a 4A program in Sammamish, WA just outside of Seattle. It boasts a Top 20 state ranking and a 5-2 overall record in 2025.
Pelluer has been the Spartans’ head coach for two seasons. He currently has the team sitting atop the district standings. As he looked to further position his program for a playoff push, he was suspended.
Why did Skyline High School suspend its football coach?
Reports claimed that upset parents forced Pelluer’s removal. They were rumored to be angry with his roster management.

The complaint is about playing time and who is playing and nothing to do with any physical or other complaint.
Safety was not a concern. Instead, it seems parents simply believed the head coach was playing the wrong players. They caused a stir. It resulted in a controversial suspension.
Many quickly came to Peyton Pelluer’s defense, including former Washington State Cougars teammate Luke Falk. His entire Skyline coaching staff also showed support.
Pelluer’s assistants refused to coach until he was rightfully reinstated. That happened on Tuesday.

The Issaquah School District released a statement on the decision this week. An investigation into those parent claims turned up nothing.
