Marshall defeated West Virginia in double overtime during the best college soccer match of the season thus far. Unfortunately, one particular Mountaineers fan in Morgantown could not handle the Thundering Herd’s celebration and decided to shove multiple players off of a nearby railing.

He caught these hands!

The unruly college soccer fan showed exactly how not to act after a defeat. It only makes the win that much sweeter for the victors!

Marshall won the soccer match in double overtime.

No. 12-ranked Marshall traveled to Morgantown for the semifinal round of the Sun Belt Conference Men’s Soccer Tournament. No. 17 West Virginia served as the home team because of its conference record.

It was physical.

Neither team found the back of the net during the first half. The score drew even at two goals apiece during the second half, which held through the remainder of regulation and overtime.

Freshman Joao Alves ultimately converted a penalty kick in the 110th minute to send the Thundering Herd to the Sun Belt championship game after VAR determined the Mountaineers committed a handball. It was an exhilarating end to an instant classic.

Marshall players ran over to the stands to celebrate with the fans who made the trip from Huntington as soon as the goal was scored.

They even sang ‘Take Me Home, Country Roads’ on West Virginia’s home field.

Unfortunately, the postgame celebration took an ugly turn.

A West Virginia fan pushed the players.

Not too long after the Thundering Herd arrived to the bleachers, a Mountaineers fan came down from above to push them off of the wall on which they sat. He did it once and then walked away.

Just moments later, he doubled back to do it again.

At that point, a Marshall fan charged at him and started swinging. They were quickly separated.

Here’s another look from a slightly different angle:

The match had been chippy throughout the entire evening.

These two schools have beef. They are two of the best programs in college soccer within the same state.

That does not excuse the shoving. West Virginia lost. One of its fans could not accept defeat.
