Few know how to throw a party like Pat McAfee can throw a party. And, few schools in the country can party like his alma mater, West Virginia.

Those two forces will meet up on Friday, as McAfee is set to broadcast The Pat McAfee Show from the WVU campus in Morgantown, West Virginia before he heads to College Station, Texas for College GameDay on Saturday. Things are going to be so wild in Morgantown that the local public school district is cancelling classes on Friday due to the congestion issues it will create!

The news was first reported by the Voice of Morgantown on Twitter on Wednesday evening.

That seems to be a little overboard, but I’m sure the kids in that school district are absolutely thrilled.

Pat McAfee served as both the kicker and punter at West Virginia from 2005-2008, which was one of the best stretches in the history of a program that has more wins than any other in FBS without a national title.

The 2008 Ray Guy Award finalist may be most known for his time with the Mountaineers for missing two field goals in their soul-crushing 13-9 loss to rival Pitt in the 2007 regular-season finale that kept them out of the BCS National Championship Game. But, the longtime NFL punter is still beloved in Morgantown and there will be a huge crowd for one of the biggest personalities in all of sports.

Currently West Virginia are around a touchdown underdogs to old rival Penn State, who will start the year ranked 8th in the AP Poll.

West Virginia fans should know that the last time school was cancelled for a Penn State football game, Penn State beat then-undefeated Maryland 59-0 in 2019.
