Western Kentucky University is set to wear seven different helmets that feature its incredible mascot ‘Big Red’ during the same college football game on Tuesday. The team announced the news and unveiled the new lids on Friday morning. They are awesome.

Big Red, for those who don’t know, is the funniest mascot in sports. Located on top of a hill, WKU is known as the ‘Hilltoppers.’ Obviously, that is not a tangible mascot like the Tigers or Bears.

As a result, the school got creative in 1979 with the creation of Big Red— a red, furry being that is meant to symbolize the spirit of the university. Whether it be knocking on the doors of random dorm rooms or shaking his butt on the sideline, he’s always up to something!

Very few mascots get as much love as Big Red. It’s well deserved!

Western Kentucky dropped a very funny video to announce the new helmet series earlier this year.

It took things up a notch with the most recent update!

The Hilltoppers will play next at home on Tuesday night, which moves things around in terms of scheduling. A uniform announcement would not typically drop on a Friday, but the reworked week requires such a timeline.

Not only will Western Kentucky wear one Big Red helmet, it will wear seven!

Every position group on offense and defense will wear a different helmet decal. No two helmets will be the same!
