After his first full season of retirement, Jason Kelce will now have a front row seat to his former team facing off against his brother’s team while the Kansas City Chiefs seek the NFL’s first-ever threepeat. The Philadelphia Eagles legend, Super Bowl LII champion, 6x All-Pro, and future NFL Hall of Fame’r will now have to choose to root for his brother or his old teammates… Or will he?

On the latest episode of Travis and Jason’s show, The New Heights Podcast, Jason Kelce appeared to take the Benedict Arnold route when clarifying who he will be rooting for in Super Bowl LIX. His answer twists and turns and amounts to little more than ‘I just want both sides to have fun’ and honestly, for a guy as outspoken as Jason Kelce I really would have liked to see him dig his heels in here and troll some.

Travis kicked off the conversation by calling out Jason wearing Philadelphia Eagles gear head to toe. Jason then dove into it, saying “here’s the biggest thing. For me, obviously, you’re my brother. I’ll always root for my brother. That’s the reality of it. Even though I’m decked out in Eagles gear, I’m always gonna root for Travis.” It didn’t end there though…

Jason continued, saying “there’s a lot of people in the Philadelphia organization… Whether it’s players, coaches, people in the building… that feel like extended family to me. Especially my former linemen. Like, Lane Johnson feels like a brother in a lot of ways. I’m rooting for those guys too.

Kelce then put a bow on his thoughts by saying “I’m rooting for Philadelphia and I’m rooting for Travis Kelce. That’s the reality of it. No matter what on game day I’m gonna be happy for one of those sides and I’m gonna be sad for the other side.

Jason added “I still feel like I am a Philadelphia Eagle and that I am part of all of these people that root and cheer on our team. I would be lying if I said I don’t want the Eagles to win but I also want Travis Kelce to win.

Here is that New Heights moment on YouTube:

Jason very much is still part of the Eagles organization. Heck, after retirement he was still showing up to the facility to workout because that’s the only gym he knew. He will be enshrined in the NFL Hall of Fame as an Eagle. But of course he’s going to root for his brother.

There’s really no controversy here. Jason Kelce is in a position where he gets to have his cake and eat it too. Must be nice. While the Benedict Arnold comparison might be a bit harsh, Benedict himself was stationed in Philly for 2 years so it seemed apt given that Arnold is the most famous flip-flopper in American history.

In other Kelce news… Adam ‘Pacman’ Jones is convinced Travis Kelce is going to propose to Taylor Swift on the spot if the Kansas City Chiefs win it all. There are apparently even books taking bets on whether or not it will happen..
