Houston Rockets center Steven Adams recently showed off his living conditions. The 6’11”, 265-pound baller from Rotorua, New Zealand has earned nearly $185 million so far in his NBA career and one would think he has luxurious accommodations but one would be wrong to think that.
For those old enough to remember the MTV Cribs episode featuring Shaq back in 2003, Steven Adams’ sleeping conditions will come as a shock. Shaq is just two inches taller than Adams and O’Neil was sleeping in a bed that measured 15′ long and 30′ wide. Perhaps the largest bed any of us have ever seen…
Why Is Steven Adams Sleeping on the Floor?
In a post on X from @funakistats, it is revealed that not only is Steven Adams sleeping on the floor he is sleeping inside a sleeping bag. I, for one, am astonished that they make sleeping bags tall enough for guys like him in the first place:

As pointed out over on Barstool Sports, this wasn’t the first time we have seen evidence of centimillionaire Steven Adams living like a pauper. Two years ago when he moved to Houston, Adams shared a photo of what appeared to be an inflatable mattress on the ground with a loosely draped sheet covering it.

Has anyone told him that he doesn’t have to sleep on the ground? Does he know this?
By the Numbers
Throughout his NBA career, Steven Adams has played in 796 games. He has accrued $184,578,261 in contract earnings thus far and is set to earn a total of $209,447,826 by the end of his current contract in 2027 with the Rockets.
That works out to him being paid approximately $231,882 per game, over 796 games, so far in his career. Never mind the fact that those numbers are insane, he should be living LARGE by now.
Frugality is key to preserving long term wealth as a professional athlete but he is taking things too far. A custom bed will run around $5K at most, typically. He could buy a new one every single game and it wouldn’t make a dent in his bank account.
Adams could even purchase the Baldacchino Supreme, the most expensive bed in the world, for $6.3 million and it would be less than half of what he is earning this season.
What does he do when the team is traveling? Does he pack up the sleeping bag for road trips and sleep on the ground in hotels? The Rockets stay in nice hotels. Every NBA team does. But I sure as heck wouldn’t want to sleep on the floor of any hotel given how many people have stayed in the rooms over time, regardless of whether they are being regularly vacuumed or not.
Someone, please, get this man a suitable bed.
