It came as a bit of a surprise last week when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers abruptly announced the team had waived wide receiver Deven Thompkins who had played an integral role on the Special Teams unit over the past two seasons. Days later, his soon-to-be ex-wife, Maria Castilhos has revealed some disturbing allegations and evidence on social media.
Posted to TikTok, Maria Castilhos shared disturbing images and videos claiming she had been assaulted by ex-Bucs WR Deven Thompkins who she says he is now getting divorced from and has an ongoing court case with for dissolution of marriage and child custody. Castilhos also claims that Deven Thompkins’ current partner is in her comments calling her a liar about assault allegations.
The video goes on for several minutes with Maria Castilhos sharing screenshots of text messages from family members reaching out to her in support, her getting blocked by Utah State University for coming out with her allegations, and more.

UPDATE: A lawyer representing Deven Thompkins has released a statement denying all of the allegations

On TikTok, she also shared screenshots of bruises and cuts that she alleges were from being attacked by her ex. Those can be seen on her TikTok page by those who wish to see them.
In that group of images with bruises and cuts, Castilhos said she “can’t fully share (her) testimony yet” and added that she has “disconnected so much from who I was, that I can look at the man who did this to me and feel sorry that he doesn’t know Christ in his heart. Healing is the most difficult thing I have ever had to do but it is so much easier with Jesus.”

It goes without saying these are very serious and very disturbing allegations. And it is only be a matter of time before the NFL investigates the situation surrounding now-free agent Deven Thompkins.
