Wild Brawl Breaks Out Between Chiefs & Lions After Brian Branch Leaves Patrick Mahomes Hanging To Slap JuJu Smith-Schuster

NBC/NFL

Things got a bit heated at the end of the Lions-Chiefs game.

After the Chiefs kneeled the ball to seal their win, Patrick Mahomes went to shake hands with Lions’ defensive back Brian Branch. Branch ignored Mahomes, and walked over to slap Chiefs wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster.

Multiple players were involved in the brawl, which took a few minutes to break up.

Here’s another angle of the brawl between the Chiefs and the Lions.

Mahomes offered a brief explanation of what went on before the brawl during his postgame interview.

“I mean, we play the game in between the whistles. They can do all the extracurricular stuff they want to do. But we play the game in between the whistles and we thought we played a great game today.”

Lions head coach Dan Campbell apologized to the Chiefs and called Branch’s behavior “inexcusable.”

It’s clear that Branch is going to get a call from the league office for his actions.
