In 2023, Will Levis became a member of the unenviable club of football players who were forced to endure an unexpected wait before hearing their name called in the NFL Draft, and a prank call he received during the first round only added insult to injury.
The 2023 NFL Draft featured a stacked cast of quarterback prospects, as Will Levis, Bryce Young, C.J. Stroud, and Anthony Richardson comprised a quartet of top-tier talent that was expected to be off the board by the time the first round wrapped up.
There was plenty of uncertainty surrounding the order in which they’d be selected, and when everything was said and done, Young and Stroud were respectively selected by the Panthers and the Texans with the first and second picks while Richardson went to the Colts with the fourth.
Levis, on the other hand, ended up on the outside looking in by the time the first day of the event wrapped up, although the Kentucky product (who started his college career at Penn State) was finally able to breathe a sigh of relief when the Titans traded up to select him with the 33rd overall pick to kick off the second round.
During a recent appearance on Bussin’ With The Boys, Levis reflected on that ordeal while recalling a brutal moment he was forced to endure toward the end of the first round after getting a call from an unknown number only to get laughed at when he picked up the phone.

Here’s what he had to say about what transpired:
“At Pick 29, I get a phone call from somebody. It was a prank call.
Random number. I still have the number saved. I’ll find them someday. They just snickered and hung up.”
It’s pretty evident Levis is still salty about the call, and while it’s hard not to feel bad for him, I have to give credit where credit is due to whoever was responsible for pulling off an objectively brilliant prank call considering the circumstances.
