Will Sheppard transferred to Colorado as a fifth-year senior after four years at Vanderbilt. He took a vicious shot at the Commodores last weekend that aged like milk.
His comments look extremely foolish after a monumental college football upset in Nashville on Saturday.
Sheppard was a three-star prospect out of Louisiana who committed to Vandy in the recruiting Class of 2020. The 6-foot-3, 205-pound wide receiver really burst onto the scene as a sophomore left his mark on the program. His 2,067 receiving yards ranks No. 7 all-time for the Commodores. His 21 touchdowns is third best in school history.
On a singular level, Sheppard led the team with 684 yards and eight touchdowns as a senior in 2023. Vanderbilt won only two games.
After a well-decorated four-year career with a program that did not win often, Sheppard hit the transfer portal and joined Coach Prime in Boulder. He could not turn down an opportunity to catch passes from Shedeur Sanders on a Colorado team that has pretty high hopes for a decent bowl game.
And, to be fair, the Buffaloes are 4-1!
Sheppard finished with a team-high 99 yards and a touchdown on four catches in a 48-21 win over UCF last weekend. When asked about the game during his postgame press conference, he joked about the frequent losses at Vanderbilt. The entire room had a collective laugh at his former school’s expense.
Colorado WR Will Sheppard took a shot at his former team following the Buffs' win over UCF:

“If y’all know where I came from, Vanderbilt, that’s the most complete win I’ve had in my career.”

True or not, the low blow looks awfully silly just seven days later.
Vanderbilt toppled No. 1 Alabama at home on Saturday. The Commodores are 3-2, with wins over the top-ranked Crimson Tide and an ACC program. Their only losses are by three to a ranked Missouri team in overtime and a fluke on the road at Georgia State. They’re cooking with gas.
Even though Will Sheppard is technically finding more success at Colorado than he did at Vanderbilt, he picked an awful year to leave Music City because his former program defeated the most prominent brand in college football seven days after he put them down. You hate to see it.
