With the 2025 WNBA season officially underway, the Golden State Valkyries are set to make their debut on Monday. Fans of the new organization will have to make a decision if they want to wear a jersey.

They can save $20 if they don’t care about the official corporate sponsors.

Before we go any further here, I must admit that this is not a big deal. I would imagine that this jersey cost discrepancy applies to the rest of the WNBA and perhaps even to other teams in other sports. That does not make me any less surprised to find this out!

Kaitlyn Chen was drafted No. 30 overall in the third round of the 2025 WNBA Draft. She is the newest member of the Golden State Valkryies.

The former Ivy League star won a national championship at UConn last season. Chen became the first person of Taiwanese descent to be drafted by a WNBA organization. Pretty cool!

You have three different options if you want to buy her jersey.

The first option is the least expensive. A replica jersey costs $79.99. It is produced by Fanatics so there is no telling what you will get.

The second option is much more legit but it will cost $50 more. An official ‘Unisex Golden State Valkyries Kaitlyn Chen Nike Black 2025 WNBA Draft Explorer Edition Victory Player Jersey‘ will run you $129.99.

The third option is the most expensive and the most legit. An official ‘Unisex Nike Kaitlyn Chen Black Golden State Valkyries 2025 WNBA Draft Explorer Edition Victory Badge Player Jersey‘ costs $149.99.

What is the difference, you might ask? One of the jerseys features the official sponsor badges on the front. The other does not have the corporate sponsors.

It costs $20 extra to wear free advertisements for Chase Freedom and Kaiser Permanente!

I am not currently in the market for a Kaitlyn Chen jersey, but if I was, the decision would be easy. Why would I want to pay up for more logos? I understand that the sponsored badges are “more legit” but it seems crazy to essentially charge a premium to wear ads.
