Caitlin Clark will not be a unanimous Rookie Of The Year award winner, thanks to one WNBA writer.
On Thursday afternoon, the WNBA announced that Clark had won Rookie of the Year after receiving 66 out of the 67 votes placed by media members.
Caitlin Clark’s WNBA Rookie of the Year award was one vote away from being unanimous.
The league’s list of unanimous winners includes Aliyah Boston (2023), A’ja Wilson (2018), Elena Delle Donne (2013) and Tina Charles (2010).

Apparently, one WNBA writer decided to give Clark’s rival, Angel Reese, an extra vote.

WNBA fans were furious with the writer who gave Reese a Rookie of the Year vote.
“Player award votes and Hall of Fame ballots should be public. This shouldn’t be cloaked in secrecy. How can someone justify picking Angel Reese for Caitlin Clark for ROY this year. If you don’t want scrutiny, then give up voting rights.” commented NY Post’s Ryan Glasspeigel on social media.
As of no,w the writer who voted for Reese has yet to be made public.
