A Florida woman in her 30s reportedly fired gunshots toward Rihanna’s Beverly Hills mansion on Sunday. The alleged shooter has since been arrested.
According to a law enforcement source that spoke with the Los Angeles Times, at least one of the rounds penetrated a wall of the mansion. The pop star was home at the time of the shooting, the source reported.
At 1:21 p.m. on Sunday, Los Angeles police were called to the scene of the gunfire in Beverly Hills. Police said that the woman shot several rounds toward Rihanna’s residence from inside her car.
Police Sgt. Jonathan de Vera, a Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) spokesperson, stated that no injuries were recorded in the incident.
What happened during the shooting at Rihanna’s house?
A car across the street from the property’s gate fired at least ten rounds at the house, according to LAPD radio dispatch. The vehicle, a white Tesla, then drove south on Coldwater Canyon Drive.
According to police, they discovered bullet holes in an RV parked in the driveway and in a gate outside Rihanna’s house. “Approximately 10 shots” had been fired at the residence. Four of the rounds reportedly struck the house.
Police stated over the radio that officers in a helicopter spotted the Tesla and tracked it to a Sherman Oaks shopping center parking garage about eight miles from Rihanna’s home. It was there that they apprehended the woman about half an hour after the 911 call was received.
“When they pulled the suspect over and took her into custody, they searched the vehicle and located an assault rifle and seven casings,” said Armen Arias, an LAPD spokesperson.
An LAPD representative told People that it is considered to be an active Robbery Homicide Division investigation. Investigators are attempting to ascertain whether the suspect was aware that Rihanna resided in the house.
A source told the New York Post that Rihanna and partner A$AP Rocky “don’t know much” and have no idea why the woman allegedly shot at their home.
Neighbors spoke about what they heard during the incident
“I was just washing dishes in my house, and I heard shots,” Isabel Thorne told the Post. “I was a little shocked. You know, we don’t hear that kind of thing in this neighborhood.”
Thorne said the shots were quite loud, and since everything reverberates in the valley, she could hear everything.
“We have a neighborhood chat, so everybody started hearing the police scanners saying there was gunshots,” Thorne said.
Another neighbor, Keith England, said he “hit the floor” when he heard the shots. “Bam, bam, bam, bam, bam, bam, like probably 10 shots,” he said.
