New York Jets owner Woody Johnson, widely considered to be one of, if not the worst owner in all of American professional sports, spoke to the media for the first time following Gang Green’s pathetic 0-7 start to the season. While Johnson backed rookie head coach Aaron Glenn, he threw QB Justin Fields right under the bus.
Seven weeks into the 2025 NFL season and the New York Jets are the only winless team in the league, meaning they are certain to extend their 14-year-long playoff drought to 15 years, which is the longest such drought across the NFL, NHL, NBA, and MLB.

While there are a multitude of issues with the Jets — the biggest of which is decades of mismanagement from Johnson himself — the clueless 78 year old decided to make Fields the de facto fall guy by specifically blasting his play thus far.
“It’s hard when you have a quarterback with the rating that we’ve got.. If you look at any head coach with a quarterback like that, you’re going to see similar results. If we can just complete a pass, it would look good,” Johnson told the media on Tuesday.
As for rookie head coach Aaron Glenn, Johnson is still publicly backing him — for now.
“If I were a player, I would respond to him. Because he’s the real deal. There’s no B.S. There’s no second agendas,” Johnson said of Glenn. “I hug him every day. I say: ‘Keep the faith, man.'”

Considering Johnson’s opinion of Fields and Glenn already stating he isn’t sure who the team’s starting quarterback will be this weekend against the Cincinnati Bengals, it seems highly unlikely that the team will turn to Fields this weekend and instead start backup journeyman Tyrod Taylor.
