The 2025 NBA All-Star game is getting crushed on social media. Earlier this year, Silver announced the All-Star game was going to feature four teams and a different format in hopes of giving fans a more entertaining product.
“I think we’ve come to terms that modern All-Stars are in part about competition, but ultimately, they’re about entertaining the fans and creating a strong experience for them,”
“As you guys know, I was wrong about last year,” Silver said. “I thought in Indiana that given the sort of fact it was sort of viewed as the heartland of basketball and a strong presence from some legends there, that the guys would roll the clock back a bit and play a traditional game and it wasn’t meant to be.
“And so we went back to the drawing board with the players association, again, talking directly to players and said, ‘Let’s come up with a format that we think has a better chance of creating a game, or in this case, a series of competitions that will be of interest to the fans.’
Unfortunately, this year’s All-Star game kept getting interrupted by long intermissions between play with segments from Youtuber Mr. Beast and comedian Kevin Hart. Stars LeBron James and Anthony Edwards also pulled out of the game at the last minute
Fans were not thrilled with this year’s game.

15 minutes of MrBeast filming a youtube video
1 hour of commercials
