According to a complaint filed by his partner, Mexican authorities arrested four-time WWE champion Alberto Del Rio on Monday for alleged domestic violence.

Police in San Luis Potosi reportedly arrested Alberto Del Rio for allegedly verbally assaulting and beating his partner after she called 911. She was said to have sustained injuries to her arms and face.

According to Milenio.com, “His current partner, with whom he shares trips, time, and even training moments, is Reyna Quintero, whom he calls ‘my Reyna’ in the descriptions of the photos he shares with her and whose marriage proposal happened during a Toluca vs Xolos match.”

He was detained by the Attorney General’s Office of the State of San Luis Potosi. Milenio.com reports that if found guilty of domestic abuse, Alberto Del Rio could serve one to seven years in prison.

Del Rio, real name Jose Alberto Rodriguez Chucuan, last wrestled for AAA in 2025, but stopped appearing for the wrestling company shortly after WWE acquired it. WWE chose not to renew Del Rio’s contract even though he was AAA’s reigning Mega Champion at the time of the purchase.

In 2014, WWE fired him for “unprofessional conduct” following an altercation with an employee. He returned to the company in 2015, but left again in 2016 after WWE suspended him for 30 days for violating its wellness policy. He then reportedly opted out of his contract, and WWE released him.

Alberto Del Rio has faced accusations of domestic violence before

In May 2020, police arrested Alberto Del Rio in San Antonio, Texas, for allegedly beating and sexually abusing his girlfriend. According to the police report, Del Rio allegedly tied her up with boxing bandages and kept her held against her will.

That same year, in November, former WWE star Paige (real name Saraya-Jade Bevis) claimed Del Rio had physically abused her during their time together. He denied the accusations and claimed, “It was the other way around.”

After his arrest, Saraya said, “Karma’s a real thing, and you put out what you receive, and right now, he’s receiving it.”

A grand jury indicted him in October 2020, formally charging him with one count of aggravated kidnapping and four counts of sexual assault. They postponed his trial multiple times. The authorities eventually dropped the charges in December 2021 after a witness went missing. He claimed the whole thing was an extortion attempt.
