WWE Legend Bret Hart Joyfully Recalls Knocking Out Vince McMahon In Backstage Fight

As anybody who has ever watched pro wrestling will tell you, WWE legend Bret Hart has no love lost for the company’s former owner, Vince McMahon.

In fact, Hart revealed in McMahon’s downfall when he was forced out of the company due to several sexual assault allegations.

Now, the Canadian superstar is once again airing his grievances with McMahon. This time, he spoke about the time the two got in a backstage fight in which Hart claims to have knocked McMahon out.

I didn’t charge him. We actually walked up to each other and locked up like a wrestling match. Then I knocked him out with one punch and it was the greatest punch I ever threw. Absolutely beautiful uppercut,” Hart said on the Attitude Era Podcast. I lifted him about a foot off the ground, broke my hand. It was the sweetest punch I ever threw. The incident occurred following the infamous Montreal Screwjob at the 1997 Survivor Series pay-per-view. Hart, the WWE champion at the time, lost the match after McMahon ordered the referee to ring the bell despite Hart never submitting to opponent Shawn Michaels.

Hart had previously agreed to leave WWE for WCW. But he refused to lose to Michaels, with whom he an actual beef.

“I had another six weeks left on my contract. There were a million things that could have been done,” Hart said of the match outcome. “It was a case of liars, cheaters, backstabbers, and guys that made that moment happen. Shawn, Triple H, Vince McMahon. I wish I knocked them all out. I have no regrets. It was the single greatest thing I ever did.”

Hundreds of people have wanted to knock Vince McMahon out. Only Hart got the opportunity. And it appears it’s a moment that he’s never going to forget.
