Things got a little chippy during the 2024 Presidents Cup that ended with the United States securing its 10 consecutive victory, and Byeong Hun An didn’t do himself any favors with the deleted tweet that led to him getting called out by Wyndham Clark ahead of the final day of the tournament.

The Presidents Cup may not be able to measure up to the Ryder Cup when it comes to the history and prestige both events are steeped in, but the former has still managed to become a fairly anticipated biannual showdown between teams representing the United States and the rest of the world (sans Europe).

One of the key differences between the two tournaments is the lack of parity that’s defined the Presidents Cup since it was first held in 1994. 2024 marked the 15th time it’s been played, and the International squad headed into it with just a single victory that was secured all the way back in 1998 (the two sides tied in 2003).

It looked like Team USA was going to coast to yet another win after sweeping the five fourball matches that were held at Royal Montreal on Thursday, but their International foes responded with a sweep of their own on Friday to set the stage for a very intriguing weekend.

By the time things wrapped up on Saturday, the Americans had pulled out to an 11-7 lead with the help of Xander Schauffele’s and Patrick Cantlay’s victory over Tom Kim and Si Woo Kim, which transpired after that last man channeled his inner Steph Curry by prematurely pulling out the “Night Night” celebration following a clutch chip-in.

Wyndham Clark wasn’t shy about mocking Kim for that gesture, but his decision to go that route earned a rebuke from the latter’s International teammate Byeong Hun An.

The chirp was somewhat justified when you consider Clark had lost to The Kims while playing alongside Keegan Bradley earlier in the day, but An committed a bit of an unforced error when you consider he hadn’t been tapped to compete in any of the matches that transpired on Saturday—which probably played a role in his decision to delete the tweet.

However, Clark still hopped on Instagram to call out “the guy who didn’t even have a tee time,” and he and the rest of the guys representing the United States got the last laugh by clinching the 18.5-11.5 win on Sunday.
