Some athletes are adjusting to life without sports better than others. As uncertainties remain and the days without any sort of action begin to pile up this ‘new normal’ can begin to take a toll on just about everybody.
Xander Schauffele took part in a teleconference on Wednesday afternoon and was brutally honest about how his life has been since the PGA Tour hit the pause button on its season. Schauffele, the No. 12 player in the world, revealed that he’s “lost a sense of purpose” during the hiatus and hasn’t touched a club since The Players was officially canceled nearly three weeks ago.

Plenty of people were quick to reply to Gray’s tweet in reference to Schauffele’s “feeling unemployed” quote pointing out the fact that he’s made over $16 million on the PGA Tour. At first glance, it may seem like a disingenuous comment to make, but regardless of what his bank account looks like, Schauffele and every other PGA Tour member is adjusting to life without work.
Was on this call too. He wasn’t asking for sympathy. Criticism feels harsh.
There are a number of tour pros who seem out of touch. Xander is not one of them. https://t.co/YaQfDNlQMZ

While Schauffele’s comments about losing a sense of purpose during these difficult times is a feeling millions upon millions of people share around the world right now, perhaps the most relatable thing he said was that he hasn’t read a book during his time off. He hasn’t quite hit that level of boredom yet where his brain has told him to pick up a book.
Xander Schauffele, man of the people, on what he's doing in quarantine: "Honestly, I'd be lying if I said I read any books."

You have to respect Schauffele’s honesty about where his mindset is at during this unique moment in time that seemingly has no end in sight.
