New York Yankees fans are not happy with Juan Soto right now. On Sunday night, Soto shocked the MLB world when he revealed that he had signed the largest contract in pro sports history to play for the NY Mets.
According to SNY’s Andy Martino, the Yankees were the frontrunners to sign Soto but he opted for the Mets at the last minute.
“The Mets were dead in the water on this at about 3 p.m. today,” Martino said. “This was going nowhere. Momentum was with the Yankees. And it picked up late and it picked up quick.”

Jon Heyman reported that the Yankees offered Soto a 16-year $760 million contract, which fell short of the 15-year $765 million the Mets offered him.
