The New York Mets have been gawdawful in June, posting a 12-15 record, but the one of the few bright spots for the slumping Metros has been Yoenis Cespedes. Here’s a video of Yo going yard against Chicago Cubs pitchers John Lackey in the bottom of the sixth to cut Chi-town’s lead to 3-1.

Heads up on the upper deck, kid! That donger of a dinger is tied for the longest home run hit at Citi Field – which opened in 2009 – and is tied for the 5th longest four-bagger in the league this season so far. It was Yo’s 19th homer of the season, but only his fourth in June, after hitting 7 in April and 8 in May.
The Mets would come back to beat the Cubs, 4-3, after getting swept by the Washington Nationals and losing two of four to the lowly Atlanta Braves (who swept the Mets a week earlier).
As of this article’s publication, the Mets currently hold the Wild Card spot with a 1/2 game lead on the Miami Marlins who just traded for Padres closer Fernando “I’m a better archer than Legalos and Katniss combined” Rodney.
As a Mets fan, the All-Star break can’t come soon enough. Steven Matz and Noah Syndergaard have bone spurs, Matt Harvey already has 10 losses, Bartolo Colon is fathering secret children, David Wright’s career is most likely done-zo, Lucas Duda might not be far behind, Michael Conforto got sent down to the minors, Curtis Granderson’s calf is sore, Juan Lagares is just now coming back from a pretty serious wrist injury, and Jose Reyes has been hitless in the minors. But, Los Mets did this to us last season and were a couple plays from taking the Royals in five in the Fall Classic. Ya gotta believe?
