Cam Taylor-Britt made some interesting comments about Washington Commanders offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury last week ahead of the Bengals‘ Monday night matchup.

Those remarks aged very poorly after Cincinnati allowed 38 points to Kingsbury’s unit in primetime.

“They don’t make [QB Jayden Daniels] do a lot,” he said while previewing his opponent. “They keep it really simple. It’s a nice college offense with Kingsbury as the OC… I heard he pass percentage was real high, but he’s only throwing short routes. Intermediate stuff, quick throws.”

Daniels, a Heisman winner in his final season at LSU, proved to Taylor-Britt that he’s not afraid to air it out.

The rookie lit the Bengals up for 254 yards and two touchdowns while completing 91%(!) of his passes. Washington was never forced to punt, scoring on six of their eight offensive drives.

The lone scoreless possessions were kneel downs to end the halves.

The Commanders won the game, 38-33, to move to 2-1 in the rookie’s debut season. After the game, Cincinnati head coach Zac Taylor was asked about his defensive back’s comments.

“That’s not what we do,” he responded in his postgame presser. “We praise our own team. We praise the other team. We don’t need to take shots like that. That team hasn’t punted in two weeks….

“I’ve got a tremendous amount of respect for what they’re doing over there. I’ve known Kliff for a long time. I knew playing with that QB that this was going to be a very dangerous team to play against, and they proved it.”

Jayden Daniels has officially arrived, and Cam Taylor-Britt’s comments certainly didn’t age well.

Despite the loss, the defender insists he doesn’t regret what he said.

“I do not regret it.” Taylor-Britt said. “I did not mean anything malicious out of the comments. It was just made bigger than what it was. I can eat my words, most definitely. We did take the L today.”

It’s not the first time Taylor-Britt’s shaded an opponent, but in the past, he’s largely been able to back it up. The Bengals weren’t able to do so on Monday.

With that loss, the Bengals fell to 0-3 on the year.
