We’ve only got one season of HBO’s Game of Thrones left. Season 8 will bring the most commercially successful Fantasy TV show to a close, and fans like you and myself are eagerly awaiting any piece of news about when Season 8 will begin and/or what sort of plot lines we can expect to bring the series to a close.

Actress Sophie Turner who plays Sansa Stark on HBO’s Game of Thrones recently sat for an interview with Variety magazine to discuss the 8th and final season. The showrunners are typically very guarded with their lead cast members to protect any potential spoilers from leaking out. So it’s likely that the things said below by Sophie Turner were pre-approved by HBO. As for when Season 8 will begin? Here’s what she told Variety:

We started in October, so we’re maybe like a tenth of the way through. [Laughs.] No, no, we’ve got six or seven months left.

“Yeah, I’m really excited. Game of Thrones comes out in 2019. Dark Phoenix is in November. Then I have a couple indie movies coming out. I’m a producer on my next movie [Girl Who Fell From the Sky]. So I’m really excited about the future.” (via)

When you have one of the main cast members flat out saying that the Season 8 premiere date isn’t happening until 2019 then it’s pretty safe to assume that’s the truth. What’s more concerning to me is whether or not this means the premiere will come in early 2019 or if HBO will want to stretch this out until mid-to-late 2019 to build hype.
