Booker's Bourbon Springfield Batch release

It has been a few months since I put pen to paper when it comes to Bourbon reviews but my samplings and tastings haven’t gone anywhere. With April winding down, I figured today was the perfect day to make special mention of my favorite release from the past month (so far, I still have some left I want to sample): Booker’s Bourbon ‘Springfield Batch’.

Booker’s Bourbon has always occupied a special place in my heart and I make a point of devoting attention to each of the batch releases. ‘Springfield Batch’ is the first batch released in 2024 and the name pays tribute to the town where Booker Noe was born… Springfield, Kentucky.

The Beam family is synonymous with the town of Bardstown, Kentucky. It’s where the Beam Family home is that’s been owned by the family for over a hundred years and Bardstown got its own Booker’s Batch named after it back in 2021 but this new Springfield Batch is something special.

Aside from Abraham Lincoln whose family is from just north of Springfield where there’s a Lincoln Homestead State Park in honor of our 16th President, Booker Noe is probably the most famous and influential figure to come out of that part of Kentucky so it felt right that this batch was named in honor of a place that often gets overlooked with the Beam family legacy.

As is the case with every Booker’s Bourbon Batch release, there is a strong Kentucky Hug with the Springfield Batch. But prior to that, the nose is thick with brown sugar and vanilla, those aromas characteristic of hand-picked beam bourbons around this age.

Across the tongue there flavor is balanced, smooth, and as it goes down the gullet the finish is long with sweet and spicy hints.

Everyone drinks bourbon in their preferred way, or they should at least, and I often sip Booker’s neat but I’m very much looking forward to mixing up some Mint Juleps next weekend with this Booker’s Springfield Batch in honor of the Kentucky Derby.

It is out now in limited quantities. The SRP is $99 and you can look for it at TotalWine by following the ‘shop’ button below!
