A Fan Favorite ‘Game Of Thrones’ Character We Haven’t Seen In A While Is Confirmed To Return In Season 7

Iron Throne Game of Thrones

HBO / Game of Thrones

There are some potential Game of Thrones spoilers here if you’re not all caught up. I just want you all to be aware that we’re talking about a cast/character appearance in the upcoming Season 7, but this is also legitimate news about the show and not just speculation. Moving on…

Gendry was a fan favorite character in ‘Game of Thrones‘ from 2011 through 2013, and then he disappeared from the episodes. He’s the bastard son of Robert Baratheon and we all figured he’d play a crucial role in the show because he carried the true blood of Robert and thus was a potential heir to the Iron Throne given that Joffrey and the other blonde ilk were born of incest.

Actor Joe Dempsie who plays Gendry on HBO’s Game of Thrones only ever appeared in 13 episodes of the show. Contrast that with Peter Dinklage who’s been in 56 episodes and it’s obvious that Gendry was only ever a tertiary character to the main plot lines, but he was definitely a fan favorite. And given his notable king’s blood, he was also someone to keep an eye on. Well, he’s coming back and this news is confirmed (via UPROXX)!

It is official: Gendry is coming back.

We won’t spoil at what point Gendry pops up in the season but in a chat with the Times a few hours before the premiere, [Joe] Dempsie said he was relieved by the reaction from the diehard fans who sleuthed it out. “Very fortunately, from what I’ve seen it’s been nothing but interest and excitement and some quite witty memes.”

After that revelation in the interview the show’s official Twitter account had no problem sharing this news with fans:

So, I think we’re done with the days of people burning other people because ‘king’s blood’ is so powerful. I don’t see that as a plausible reason for Gendry returning. I’m guessing he’ll likely make an appearance as an armorer for that big ass battle we all know is coming, and then disappear again. What about you bros, what do you think the future of Gendry looks like on Game of Thrones season 7?
