Lil Wayne Brings Drake on Nice Comeback Jam ‘Believe Me’

Lil Wayne hasn’t left the public consciousness over the past six or so years. In fact, his celebrity has never burned brighter, thanks to Young Money’s dominant roster, ubiquitous pop song appearances, and Floyd Mayweather. But for diehard fans of his early mixtapes and his breakout work on The Carter III, something has been missing. Call it a spark, a fire in his belly, whatever. The quality isn’t there.

Wayne promised the Carter V would be different. That he’d put in a ton of work. And that’d it be his last solo LP ever. (… Sure.) Judging by the first single at least, he’s a man of his word. “Believe Me” has Wayne trading verses with Drake (on production from Boi-1da that does show a heavy NWTS influence) and it’s good. Not earth-shatteringly good, but quotable and passionate. Color us intrigued.
