If you haven’t heard by now last night was the ‘Met Ball’ hosted by Taylor Swift and Idris Elba. The Met Ball is an annual fundraiser gala for the crème de la crème, often referred to as the ‘East Coast Academy Awards’. It brings out the biggest names in fashion and acting, drawing the biggest name celebrities of any event on the East Coast.
Each year American Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour picks some completely asinine theme for the event and this year’s Met Ball theme was ‘Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology’, which led to some of the most laughable outfits seen in years. Not to be lost amongst Hollywood royalty were Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West who showed up dressed like complete idiots. When they hit the red carpet and people got a look at what they were wearing the two naturally got the meme treatment.
