The SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket exploded on Thursday morning on the launch pad at Cape Canaveral. The rocket was not set to launch until Saturday, September 3. The rocket was said to be a performing a test when it blew up on Thursday.

The Falcon 9 was only days away from its mission to deliver into orbit the Amos 6 communications satellite, which will allow Facebook to offer internet access in Africa. Apparently, the satellite was in the rocket at the time of the explosion.
