Seriously, it just won a trophy for that.

The SJA British Sports Journalism Awards were hosted on Monday night across the pond to recognize exemplary work in the fields of sports broadcast and journalism.

Among the awards given each year is “Best Sports Photo” and this year’s winner (below), shot by Carl Recine, does not disappoint one bit.

Recine captured the phenomenal moment of impact shot below when WBO intercontinental super-lightweight champion Jack Catterall landed one square on the cheek of Cesar David Inalev during their bout in Liverpool last March. I can’t even begin to explain how it’s even possible for someone’s face to contort like this, but the film don’t lie.

Ouch times a billion. Here’s the full frame of Recine’s spectacular award winner.

Needless to say, he was “delighted” with the award win, after going up against the likes of Peter Cziborra of Action Images, Mike Egerton of the Press Association, Jordan Holder Mansfield of Getty Images, Tom Jenkins of The Guardian and Observer, and Eddie Keogh from Reuters.

Well done, good sir. Well done indeed.

Now can you answer if Cesar David Inalev’s face will ever look normal again!?
